Editor Basics - Page Events
In this guide, we will learn about creating and managing Page Events for your story.
Page Events are managed using the Page Events Panel, just below the Chapter Assets. Page Events are how you bring interactivity to your stories. Let’s get started by creating a new story or opening an existing one. Above, we have a basic story with a single Character, Kellan, in the Hangar environment.
Navigate to the Page Events Panel and click the Add+ button. This will open the Event Library.
Here, you can browse the various Page Events that are available and add them to your story. These can include UI items, questions, object interaction and audio playback.
For now, let’s expand the Game section and choose the Multiple Choice event.
Notice how a new UI element is displayed in the Viewport. You can edit the content of the Multiple Choice event using the Properties panel.
Let’s change the Title to something more meaningful, such as “Food Options” and the Question to “What is your favorite food?”.
With this particular Page Event, we can add selectable answers. Notice how we have added three choices: Pizza, Salad, and Buffalo Wings.
As you build out your story and add more Pages, you can link answers to specific pages and when users play your Story and make a selection, they are automatically taken to the new page. You can configure Page linking by using the Properties Panel.
In our next guide, we will take a look at Pages and the Timeline and how to bring it all together to tell your story.
